Empowering Economically Disadvantaged Women, Migrant and Migrant Households through Social mobilization in Livelihood Programs

POURAKHI Nepal, in collaboration with AWO International, has launched a project focused on empowering economically disadvantaged women migrants and migrant households through social mobilization and livelihood programs. This initiative aims to address the challenges faced by women migrants, particularly those who rely on foreign employment due to limited local economic opportunities.

The project will operate in Dakshinkali Municipality, within the Bagmati Province. It aims to enhance the livelihood options for these women by providing skills training, vocational education, and resources for entrepreneurial activities. By promoting sustainable farming techniques, animal husbandry, and agro-tourism, the project seeks to empower women to build stable, resilient incomes locally, reducing the need for migration. The project also integrates a strong social mobilization component, focusing on community engagement and fostering ownership of development initiatives to ensure long-term sustainability.

Through this project, POURAKHI Nepal and AWO International will work to safeguard the rights of women migrant workers, ensuring their inclusion in local economic activities. The initiative will directly support 120 households, empowering women with the knowledge, resources, and opportunities needed to secure their livelihoods, while fostering broader social and economic resilience within their communities.
